What is cold process soap?

Cold process soap is made using low temperatures to bring the various oils to their natural melting points. The oils are then combined with water and alkali to make soap. Since low temperatures are used, the delicate flower and plant essences added to the soap aren't destroyed and boiled away.

What does superfat mean?

All of our soaps are superfatted, which means that there is a little extra skin conditioning oil contained in each bar.  Special emollients such as jojoba, sweet almond, and avocado oils, as well as unrefined cocoa and raw shea butters are infused in many of our soaps for this purpose.

Do you use artificial fragrances in your soap?

No, we only use essential oils to scent our soap. Essential oils are the true essence of a plant derived from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, or roots. In addition to their wonderful aromas, essential oils can provide valuable aromatherapy benefits.

How is your soap different from "regular" commercially made soap?

There are many differences. Most commercial soap is made from rendered animal fat and chemical detergents. These soaps are not easily biodegradable or Earth-friendly, and are loaded with artificial ingredients that are very harsh and drying to your skin. The glycerin that is naturally produced in soap is usually removed from commercial soaps and sold for other purposes.

Our soaps are made from all natural ingredients and are very gentle and moisturizing. We never remove the vegetable glycerin from our soap, which acts as a humectant, and in many cases we even add more!

I have sensitive skin and cannot use soap. Can I use your soap?

Our soaps are very gentle and do not contain any harsh detergents or artificial ingredients, which makes them ideal for sensitive skin. Many of our customers have sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema and use our soap to help soothe and gently cleanse their skin.

Do you test on animals?

No, we NEVER test on animals, nor do we use any animal ingredients except for organic goat's milk in our goat's milk soap. The goat's milk is sourced from a small organic farm with happy goats that are humanely treated. Our products are 100% cruelty-free.

Is your soap biodegradable?

Yes, because our soap is made from all natural ingredients it easily biodegrades within days.

How much do you charge for shipping?

We link directly to USPS (United States Postal Service) and UPS. Shipping is based on the weight of the item(s) and your location. We charge what these services charge.

When are my items shipped?

Your item(s) will ship within 1 business day. Expect to receive your items within 1-7 business days, depending on the method you choose and your location.

My order was damaged in shipping. What should I do?

Please contact us immediately to let us know what happened, and we'll arrange for you to return the damaged item(s) to us. We will replace the item(s) free of charge, including shipping.

Will I receive confirmation of my order?

Once we have received your completed order and encrypted credit card information via our secure online ordering system we will respond with an e-mail confirmation and a purchase order number for your order. This will confirm the specific product(s) you have ordered and detail any special information that may apply to your order.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be 100% satisfied. If you are for any reason dissatisfied with any products purchased in the Elemental Soapworks web store, contact us within 90 days and we will arrange a return and refund of the purchase price.
