Elemental Soap Works - handmade soap

The Process

We use the cold process method of soap making so that the delicate flower and plant essences infused in our soap aren't destroyed and boiled away.  This method begins with gently heating the various plant based oils to their natural melting points.

After the oils have melted, they are mixed with an alkaline solution.  As the mixture combines, it begins to thicken or "trace", which means that it is turning into soap and glycerin.  At this point, it is time to add the necessary essential oils, superfatting oils, botanicals or mineral pigments.

The soap mixture is then poured into molds and allowed to harden for one to two days.  After the soap has solidified, it is ready to be removed from the molds and cut into bars.  The freshly cut bars of soap are stamped with our logo, and placed onto drying trays where they are cured for a period of four weeks.  When the bars of soap have finished curing, they are then hand wrapped and ready to be sold.
